NameSaver is based on the EuroSaver code.
Instead of the new currency of the EC it displays names or other bits of text waving over your desktop. It was made as a present for a group of children, with their names as default.
(I have changed that default list.) Instead of names you can also enter other types of text, like quotes or short jokes.

Version 1.05 of NameSaver can display text and/or names in various forms over your desktop (see ). It was made for a school project, as a free present for the children in that school.
You can save and restore the original background color, and you can set your own background color.
If you do not like the background, you can remove it. (In the Win95 version only, the Background colour can be changed. In later versions you can still remove it.)
Settings for the Preferences menu:
￭ background color and name in the contents of the window.
￭ text: determine whether the name, text or font shall be used. There are options for the font (see Preferences) and text (see Text option).
￭ input method: determines if you can enter the text by clicking in the window, typing in a text window (like when entering a password) or by pressing an assigned keyboard sequence.
￭ what to do when the window is closed: set what you want to happen when you close the window.
￭ font size and style: decide between a small font, in which the text is very small, a medium sized font, with a readable text and a large font, with a large text.
￭ colour: make the content of the window have the given colour (see Preferences).
￭ whether the window shall be restored to the original size, original colours and original position.
￭ whether to include the image icon on the desktop. (In Win95 only.)
￭ autostart: if you want the WindowMaker propperly installed, you can set the window to open automatically.
￭ language: enter your system language, so NameSaver will be in your own language and with your own letters.
￭ title: set the title of the window.
￭ sub-title: set the sub-title of the window.
￭ input method: set the input method, if the current is set to mouse (option selected) or keyboard (option unselected).
￭ input text colour: determine the colour of the text, when no input method is set. (In Win95 only. The actual colour cannot be set.)
￭ input background colour: determine the colour of the background, when no input method is set.

Here are the steps I use to install an old version of Internet Explorer for testing and a different one for development.

Open the control panel. Click on programs and features. Click on “Turn Windows features on or off”. Open the Internet Explorer entry in the list and click on the “Turn Windows features on or off” button.

The first time you start IE7 that message appears. If you close that window right away the message will come back the next time you start it. If you close it and leave the message it will be the next time you start.

You can use any browser you like. If you want

The program is an action program.
You can use it to display any information that you want.
Use the pull down menu to select the amount of lines you wish the program to display.
Numbers of lines can be specific, „18“ can be displayed to the screen over and over again, or you can make the number cycle through itself.
The size of the letters can be changed to increase or decrease the size of the letters.
You can also specify the colors of the letters, just like with a „cool or warm“ background.
One feature of NameSaver is the option to play a sound when the text changes.
You can specify how long the sound should play.
(The program plays the sound even when no new text is selected.)
You can also specify that the sound should play when the cursor changes position.
(You can move the cursor around, so that the sound is not confused with the sound that is playing over your text.)
You can also delay the sound when the cursor changes position.
When the cursor is positioned over the last word, the sound is played (as you know), but the delay is set to a value which produces a pleasant transition from silence to noise.
Entering text works just like you might think it would work, by typing text into the „empty“ text area.
To add some text enter text and then press „Enter“.
To move the cursor over the text put the cursor over the text and press „Right Arrow“.
To move the cursor over the text put the cursor over the text and press „Left Arrow“.
To make the cursor move over the text put the cursor over the text and press „Space“.
To make the cursor move over the text put the cursor over the text and press „Down Arrow“.
To make the cursor move over the text put the cursor over the text and press „Up Arrow“.
To insert a line of text select the line of text and press „Enter“.
To delete a line of text delete the text and then press „Enter“.
With each sentence you can make three lines of text.
The first line has no paragraph, i.e. no space before it.
The second line has a paragraph break in the same place as the first line, i.e. no space before it.
The third line has the paragraph break at the end of the paragraph and no space before it.
